Welcome to Aglow StanDard Poodles!
We are NOT a kennel, but a small home breeder raising AKC health tested standard poodles with lots of love and care. We have been breeding standard poodles since 2001 with an initial emphasis on medical alert service dogs for diabetic alert.
We now also produce puppies that excel in a wide variety of medical alert service dog roles including but not limited to:
- cardiac alert
- seizure alert
- diabetic alert
- gluten and nut allergy
- hearing ear assistance
- migraine alert
- presyncopy alert
- Autism assistance
We also offer:
- psychiatric service dogs
- Emotional Support Animals
- Therapy dogs
- consummate family companion dogs. Our family companion puppies are truly outstanding, having all the benefits of being raised by our hands on puppy rearing program.
All of our puppies are home raised using Puppy Culture early socialization protocols as well as Early Scent Introductions (ESI) to insure a very well socialized and confident dog. I feel it is absolutely the best start possible for any puppy. We also do formal Volhard temperament testing with each litter, done by a 3rd party animal behaviorist.
We are very proud of our exceptional puppies from our healthy and health tested adult poodles. Through the years, many of our puppies have earned AKC and/or UKC titles in the following categories:
- Therapy Dog
- Obedience
- Home Manners
- FCAT
- Rally
- Barn Hunt
- Conformation
- Canine Good Citizen
- Dock diving
- Agility
- FitDog
- AKC Fetch
- Trick Dog.
Standard poodles are truly a versatile breed!
Our adult dogs are each health tested for hip, cardiac, eye exams, dentition, and genetics clearances with the results then publicly recorded with OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). Each of our adult dogs are tested beyond the recommended OFA CHIC health standards. Our adult dogs also have each received AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) titles and most are also finished Champions and Grand Champions.
We are located on the beautiful St. Clair River, an international waterway between the USA and Canada, in eastern Michigan. Delivery throughout the USA is available.
All of our standard poodle puppies are placed with:
- AKC registration along with 30 days of complimentary pet insurance from AKC once your puppy is registered
- A written health guarantee and a bill of sale
- Our veterinarian completes age appropriate shots/wormings as well as health checks, and your puppy leaves with all vet records

About me...
I am so glad you made it to this page! My name is Shawn and I have been breeding standard poodles for 25 years, and it is truly a joy! I love raising puppies, knowing that these first weeks they spend with us are very important. Matching a puppy to her forever family is very rewarding. I breed only standard poodles; no other breed holds my heart the same way as standards do.
Why "Aglow"? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word Aglow as, "glowing especially with warmth and excitement". That is the perfect description of how standard poodles make me FEEL, and why I chose Aglow when naming my program! Their loving warmth and their excitement to be with their people is unmatched.
Our puppies are lovingly raised inside our home. They are well socialized, started on potty training and ready to join your family. I make every effort to offer the most physically sound poodles I can by doing responsible health testing that is also publicly registered with OFA. Our adult dogs have each received OFA CHIC health testing certifications. This testing includes: Hips (using PennHip and/or OFA), eye exams, Cardiac Exams, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Von Willebrand's Disease Type I (VWD1), Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-PRCD), and Neonatal Encephalopathy (NE). Our dogs are negative, not carriers nor are they affected by these diseases. Cardiac and eye exam results are "normal". I look for the same testing results in any potential stud dog I may pair with one of my girls.
Additionally, I use a program called "Better Bred" with DNA testing completed by UC Davis to ensure that I am making the most genetically diverse pairings to produce health and long lived offspring. I am so grateful for this recent technology and the POWERFUL tool it is to a breeder! It gives insight that reviewing a pedigree alone simply cannot.
Please feel free to inquire with any questions----I love to brag about our beautiful poodles!
